TVS Motor has launched the 2013 version of their popular gearless scooter, the Wego. The main new feature in this new version is that the Wego gets a front disc brake. The disc brake though is not a standard feature, but an optional extra. Not many new features have been added by TVS to the Wego apart from this. The Wego is a pretty successful model in the Indian market with good sales. This scooter is a good alternative in the 110cc segment, offering a frugal engine.
The TVS Wego is powered by a 110cc engine producing 8 HP of power and 8 Nm of torque. It has a V-Matic transmission and a 5-litre fuel tank. The disc brake on the Wego costs an extra Rs. 3000/- as it is not a standard feature. The 2013 TVS Wego has been launched at a price of Rs. 50,000 (ex-showroom). The only other scooter with a disc brake apart from this in India is the Honda Aviator, which is a premium 110cc scooter. But it costs more than Rs. 56,000/- (ex-showroom).
This makes the TVS Wego quite a good proposition which has a value for money price tag as well. The next offering from TVS is going to be a bigger scooter which will be more masculine in character and aimed towards men. It will wear a higher price tag than the Wego and will be powered by a 125cc engine. TVS will also re-launch the Victor motorcycle later this year, along with bringing out the first hybrid scooter, the Qube, to the market.
