TVS will be re-launching the Victor motorcycle. It has been completely revamped and will have a more powerful 125cc engine.

The commuter bike segment has been the biggest in terms of sales numbers in India. The reason for it being the low sticker price and average income level of the people. Higher mileage and better capacity to tackle bad roads make them a better alternative to various scooters in the market. The segment is highly fragmented and is almost single handedly dominated by the Hero Splendour. But TVS will soon be launching the Victor in India to compete in this segment.

TVS had launched the Victor originally in 2001 and it was the first bike designed and manufactured totally in India. It came with a 110cc, 4-stroke engine then and had features like alloy wheels which were a rarity in those times. Recently, test mule of the new TVS Victor has been spotted on the roads and it is expected to launch sometime this year. The bike retains some elements from the older one but most of the parts are new.

The exhaust on the TVS Victor is different from the one seen on other commuter bikes from the Hosur based company. It comes with drum brakes at both the wheels but we feel there would an option of a front disc brake. 5-spoke alloys are seen on the bike which would be standard across the range. Front fairing is almost similar to the older Victor and there’s a fake air scoop too which has been taken from the Star City. The fuel tank has recesses for the knee which would make for a better riding posture. A 125cc engine is expected to do duty on the premium commuter which will be positioned above the TVS Star City range.
