TVS Motors tasted tremendous success with the Apache series of motorcycles at a point of time, but recently, the love for the Apache RTR has started fading away because of its dated styling and specs compared to its accomplished rivals, even though they had launched an upgrade last year. The Hosur based two-wheeler manufacturer now seems to be ready for a big comeback with a reworked version of the Apache RTR. Recently, the company released teaser images of the upcoming Apache upgrade on its Facebook page.
The teaser images say – ‘the beast seeks a new skin’, which hints us that they won’t be coming out with any technical upgrades and there would be only styling upgrades. The Apache RTR 180 comes featured with a 4-stroke, 177.4 cc engine, producing a peak power of 17 BHP at 8500 RPM with a peak torque of 15.5 Nm at 6500 RPM, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Apache RTR 180 also comes with a segment first ABS feature which works very well. The manufacturer is holding a contest on its Facebook page and the winner might get the upgraded Apache RTR.
One of the teaser images showcases a distinctive grab rail cluster, the other one hints a dark shape of the facelift, while the last one shows the upgrade getting rid of the old styling panels. The Apache RTR 180 is well known for its sharp riding dynamics and strong performance. TVS Motors is taking a good move for the Apache range, if they come out well with the new updated styling. 75 percent of bike lovers preferred the old design of the Apache RTR. The pricing is expected to be similar for the facelift.
