Sherco is a French and Spanish motorcycle manufacturer that specialises in off-road motorcycles and is known for its range of off-road, enduro and supermoto bikes in the market. While the manufacturer does not have any presence in India, the Sherco 450I Enduro model was spotted by Motor Vikatan reader Kamakannan in Hosur. Apparently, two units each of the 2014 Sherco MX300I and 2013 450I Enduro motorcycles were imported into the country in April this year by TVS for testing purpose at its Chennai facility.
It is a known fact that TVS in collaboration with BMW is working on two new motorcycles that are in the under 500cc category. While one is a roadster along the lines of the R1200R, the other motorcycle is most likely a 350cc Supermoto that is home on the mud and tarmac. While nothing concrete is still known about the new set of bikes, one can’t help but assume that TVS could be benchmarking the Sherco motorcycles for their off-roading capabilities, as the upcoming product will be a direct competitor to the same.
TVS-BMW’s first new product will be launched in the second half of 2015 and will be marketed across the globe. Speculations are also rife that TVS-BMW could launch a 300cc street-fighter motorcycle that will be competing against the Suzuki Inazuma, Honda CBR300R, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the likes in the segment. Currently, TVS is focusing to launch a new product in every quarter of the year will be launching the Scooty Zest later this month. A 250cc Apache is scheduled for launch by the end of the year.
