4500 units of the BMW G310R were delivered by TVS, the motorcycle continues its Indian testing.
TVS Motor has delivered 4500 units of the BMW G310R to BMW Motorrad in the last financial year, besides selling 29.26 lakh units in the previous fiscal. The company aims to increase this number with the launch of the G310R in India by this year end.
Analysts have estimated a growth of 6-8 percent for the 2-wheeler industry in particular, but TVS is expected to grow at 12-14 percent. This is also the highest in the 2-wheeler space. The company currently has a 14.7 percent and 7 percent market share respectively in the motorcycle and scooter segments.
On the bike being spotted again, the BMW G310R wasn’t camouflaged. Its styling is that of the European spec and not the updated version showcased at the 2017 Bangkok International Motor Show. The Bangkok version had a different tail-lamp setup, longer indicators, etc. The motorcycle has entered into production some months back at the Hosur plant of TVS, and still, there are no hints of its India launch after it was postponed twice.
The BMW G310R will be offered with a 313cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke engine mated to a 6-speed gearbox, producing 34 HP of power and 28 Nm of torque. The motorbike is expected to be priced around Rs. 2 lakhs (ex-showroom).
Clearly, the most awaited mobike in India for this year, this will be the first vehicle coming from the TVS-BMW joint venture. The G310R once launched, will go head on against the KTM Duke 250 and 390.
