The 6th July launch from TVS is expected to be called TVS Ronin 225, might be pitched as a retro cruiser
TVS is all set to launch a new bike on 6th July and now it has been confirmed that the upcoming model is going to be a retro cruiser motorcycle called Ronin 225. It is likely to retain most of the powertrain elements of the Zeppelin concept.
The cruiser will be powered by a large 223 cc engine that puts out 20 HP and 20 Nm mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Interestingly, it might be pitched against the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and Honda H’ness CB 350, and not against Bajaj’s Avenger 220 Cruise.
The upcoming bike’s round LED headlight with a T-shaped DRL has been already leaked ahead of launch. As far as the rest of the design goes, it’s likely to adorn the looks of the test mule caught on roads last year.
The test mule was heavily camouflaged to the point that there was little room for making out the design. But, it had nothing to co-relate with the Zeppelin concept. The seating was upright with the handlebar as raised and close as possible and there was a single pod cluster on top.
The cluster is likely to be an advanced unit showing various details like engine temperature. There was also a single piece seat ending in a grab rail that looks like the now discontinued TVS Champ moped’s curved unit.
There were disc brakes at both ends with an exhaust that looks similar to that of the 2-valve Apaches’ units. The cruiser will come with USD forks upfront and monoshock at the back. It will have a low seat height making the bike comfortable even for short riders.
As far as other details are concerned, the rear will get a slim LED taillight while the rear fender will look quite big. The wheels are likely to be 110 section at the front and 120 at the rear fixed on to spoke-like looking alloy wheels.
