A TVS on-off road motorcycle was recently spotted testing in the country, mulling the possibility of a small capacity adventure motorcycle that could be introduced in the company’s Indian portfolio. It now turns out that the test motorcycle is the Max 125 adventure motorcycle that is currently sold in the Indonesian market by the Hosur based two-wheeler manufacturer. Based on the Star City+, the Max 125 adventure gets the EcoThrust motor from the Phoenix with a host of changes to make it all terrain equipped.
The TVS Max 125 features a long travel telescopic suspension in the front and longer multi rated shock absorbers at the rear. The bike also gets a larger web-spoke rim at the front along with a petal rotor equipped front disc brake, alloy foot rests and an exposed chain. The bike also gets a off-road friendly front fender. Power to the adventure motorcycle comes from the 125cc 4-stroke, air-cooled single-cylinder EcoThrust engine that produces 11 BHP of power and 10.78 Nm of torque, paired to a 4-speed gearbox.
While a timeline for the Indian launch of Max 125 adventure is not available, the bike will be competing against the recently launched Hero Passion Pro TR that is also targeted to accomplish rough terrains. Even though the adventure motorcycle segment has limited takers in the segment, the small capacity adventure motorcycle will be a very viable motorcycle for semi-urban and rural areas across the country. Expect the bike to be priced in the range of Rs. 55,000-60,000/- (ex-showroom) when launched. TVS also sells the road only version of the Max 125 in Indonesia.
