The BMW G310R’s full-faired version is codenamed U69 and is likely to be introduced under the TVS brand name with the public debut expected at the 2016 Auto Expo.
The BMW G310R has surely kept the enthusiast circles excited as the smallest Bimmer bike that will be going on sale later in the year. Available in a naked avatar, the automaker had confirmed quite early on that its entry-level model will be diversified into different body styles and we just might see the full-faired version showcased at the Auto Expo as per some reports. It is believed that the full-faired version of the G310R is codenamed U69 and could make its public debut next month under the TVS brand name.
The new platform underpinning the BMW G310R is capable of churning out a naked, full faired and adventure tourer version which the automaker promised to introduce at a later stage. Expect the powertrain to remain the same on the TVS U69 supersport using the same 313cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine tuned for 34 HP at 9500 RPM and 28 Nm of torque available at 7500 RPM, paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The gear ratios though are likely to be tuned differently.
Cosmetically, we will appreciate the TVS U69 if it receives inspiration from BMW full faired motorcycles. The other pieces including the suspension set-up, brakes, switchgear and instrument cluster are likely to be carried over from the G310R. It is a known fact that BMW has worked on the engineering of the small capacity motorcycles while TVS will be responsible for the manufacturing aspect. As a result, both the G310R and the U69 will be produced at the Hosur based facility.
TVS is currently preparing for the launch of the all-new Apache 200 that is expected to be unveiled later this month and will be competing with models in the affordable Rs. 1 lakh performance segment. The U69 will be positioned above the new Apache and could be priced close to Rs. 2 lakhs, rivalling a host of offerings including the upcoming Suzuki GSX-R250. That said, we will have to wait for the Auto Expo next month to get our hands on the complete details.
