TVS Motor is planning to launch a 125cc motorcycle in September, which will be called the Radeon. TVS showcased the Radeon at the 2012 Auto Expo and we have got spy pictures shot by long time reader Anand K from Bangalore. The person testing the bike doesn’t seem happy when Anand was snapping pictures, which is not surprising as TVS wants to keep the Radeon as a secret till they launch it. The bike has the TVS name and logo missing and is running on red TN plates. The company seems to be extensively testing the bike as there was a convoy of Radeon bikes running around.
The TVS Radeon looks highly influenced from the StaR City and features black treatment all around the engine, 6-spoke alloys, exhaust and grab rails. The suspension system is the traditional telescopic forks at the front and twin shock ups at the rear. Power would come in from a 125cc, single-cylinder engine which is air-cooled. This engine will produce 10.5 BHP of peak power at 7500 RPM and 10 Nm of torque at 6000 RPM. The engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, against the 4-speed gearbox which does duty on the Flame.
The TVS Radeon will be positioned above the Flame, which is the other 125cc bike that TVS currently sells in the Indian market. TVS will not discontinue the Flame as the bike does decent numbers for the South based automaker. The Radeon is TVS’ reply to the Bajaj Discover 125 ST and is expected to be priced around Rs. 55,000/- (ex-showroom, Delhi). It features a front disc brake which will be offered as an option. The standard version will have drum brakes but electric start will be offered on both the variants. The Radeon will have a top speed of around 95 km/h and will be high on fuel efficiency.
