Hero MotoCorp has lost the position of the 2nd largest scooter maker to TVS this fiscal.
TVS has overtaken Hero MotoCorp to gain the position of the 2nd largest scooter manufacturer in India from the period of April-February in the current fiscal. The first position continues to remain with Honda whose Activa is the highest selling scooter in India.
TVS sold 7.44 lakh scooters in India in the specified period with a growth of 5.07% over the previous fiscal while Hero MotoCorp sold 7.20 lakh scooters resulting in a growth of -1.64% over the previous fiscal. Honda registered a growth of 15.32% with sales of 29.35 lakh units.
The Honda Activa sells more than 2 lakh units every month while the TVS Jupiter (51,817 sales in Feb) is the second highest selling scooter. The third position is held by the Hero Maestro (32,421 sales in Feb). Yamaha and Suzuki are battling it out for the positions of the 4th and 5th largest scooter makers in India.
