TVS Official Leaks New Details Of 2016 Apache 200

TVS Draken Review

The new generation TVS Apache will be drawing power from a 200cc motor with the cooling system developed by BMW for the bike.

The Apache will be getting a 200cc oil-cooled motor

The new generation TVS Apache has been under development for a long time now and with the BMW G310R officially unveiled, we don’t expect the new model to be far away from its official reveal. The 200cc affordable performance space is booming with options and TVS is prepping up the new Apache 200. Shedding some light on the development, new details regarding the upcoming model have emerged online as conveyed by Arun Siddharth, Senior GM of Marketing at TVS.

A recent news report suggests that BMW has played a crucial role in the development of the next generation Apache in addition to the G310R. While the inputs may not be as extensive as for the latter, the cooling system on the new Apache is said to have come from the German auto giant. The Apache will be powered by a 200cc single-cylinder 4-valve, SOHC engine that will be similar to the motor found on the Bajaj Pulsar 200 series. Hence, the power output can be expected to be under 30 BHP.

Further, the report suggests the new generation TVS Apache will sport a flat tank lid and will get an all digital instrument console. The bike will be heavily inspired from the Draken concept complete with LED tail lights and split seats. The motorcycle could also get Pirelli tyres as optional on the top end variant along with ABS. In addition, the new Apache will use telescopic forks at the front and not upgrade to USDs while the rear will get a monoshock setup, already seen in previous spy shots.

TVS hit the jackpot with the Apache series and has been raking positive and consistent numbers over the years with the 160 and 180 models. With the latest update, the automaker will be making its mark further in the affordable performance space and we expect the free revving nature of the current Apache being retained on the new model as well. It is unclear at present if TVS will update the outgoing Apache models as well but it is likely they will be retained as it is.

A reveal can be expected at the 2016 Auto Expo next February
