An innovation related to a headlamp mounting arrangement gets TVS Motor a patent protection. TVS says this innovation can also be applied in three-wheelers and all terrain vehicles.

What this innovation does is, one it may save against potential damage the conventional headlamp may cause to the front cover of the vehicle and two, it improves the life of the front part of the vehicle thus resulting in saving repairing costs.

Generally, in the case of a motorcycle, the headlamp assembly is mounted on the handlebar. While the front cover contains signalling devices, the rear cover contains the controls. The headlamp assembly fixtures are made up of plastic usually and the weight of the headlamp is borne by the front cover and the fixtures and hence the durability of the front cover and the fixtures are affected most likely leading to breakage in extreme cases.

With the new innovation by TVS, the weight of the headlamp assembly is transferred to the handlebar of the motorcycle using a sheet bracket which irons out the possibilities of breaking of fixtures or the front cover, thus resulting in improved life of the front portion of the motorcycle. The patent office in Chennai has granted the patent to TVS.
