TVS has launched a powerful version of its popular moped, the XL Super, it’s called XL 100 with sales limited to the Uttar Pradesh market.
The TVS XL is one popular moped that is mostly found in rural areas of the country. Buyers don’t have much options available in those areas and in their price range and hence such low-cost mopeds turn out to become a popular choice. TVS is the king of mopeds in India and the company has now launched the XL 100 in Uttar Pradesh, priced at Rs. 29,198/- (ex-showroom). The XL 100 continues to feature the same utilitarian styling of the older XL but it comes with a bigger 100cc engine.
The TVS XL 100 is available in the following colours – black, red, green, blue and grey. It will be available at all TVS dealerships in Uttar Pradesh. The vehicle has not been launched in other parts of the country and there is no news as to whether it’ll be introduced in the rest of the country or not. The current version of the XL is powered by a 70cc engine. The XL Super is so popular that it continues to feature on the list of the top 10 selling two-wheelers every month, having sales of more than 60,000-odd units.
TVS has overtaken Bajaj Auto in 2-wheeler sales in India and that’s largely due to scooters. The South based company has a multitude of scooter offerings in the market like the Scooty, Wego and the Jupiter. Meanwhile, Bajaj Auto continues to ignore the scooter segment, stating the lack of profitability in this space. Thus, TVS has managed to surpass Bajaj in domestic 2-wheeler sales although the Pulsar maker still sells more motorcycles than the Apache maker. Recently, TVS signed Amitabh Bachchan as the brand ambassador of its popular selling Jupiter scooter.
