TVS Jupiter is expected to get a disc brake and fuel injection system soon as two test mules equipped with these features were spied testing without any camouflage.
Two test mules of the TVS Jupiter were spied testing with a fuel injection system and disc brake on the front wheel on one of them in Coimbatore. The test mules also had O2 sensors while the choke lever seen on the existing scooters was missing and the mules were testing without any camouflage.
The recently launched TVS Jupiter XF was expected to sport a disc brake but the automaker seems to have saved it for its launch along with the fuel injection system. The fuel injection system will increase the output from the existing 110cc engine for a sportier ride.
The TVS Jupiter is powered by a 109.7cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 8 BHP at 7500 RPM and 8 Nm of torque. The disc brake will offer more braking power than the 130 mm drum brakes found on the current scooter.
TVS Motor is believed to be one of the pioneer automakers in the development of the Indian scooter market with its Scooty and other products. It entered the masculine segment with the launch of the Jupiter in 2013 and it became an immediate hit and was even compared with the Honda Activa, beating it in comparisons.
The TVS Jupiter is the most awarded scooter in India. The automaker managed to sell 5 lakh units in just 18 months which is also a record in the Indian market.
