TVS Jupiter 110 becomes OBD2B compliant ahead of April deadline
With the deadline for OBD2B emission compliance fast approaching, TVS Motor Company has announced that its popular Jupiter 110 scooter now meets these updated norms. The company also confirmed that the rest of its product range will be OBD2B-compliant by the end of March 2025, ensuring full adherence ahead of the April 1 regulatory cut-off.
Gradual Transition to Stricter Emission Standards
As the Indian automotive industry aligns itself with the latest emission regulations, manufacturers are progressively upgrading their vehicles to meet OBD2B standards. These norms require enhanced on-board diagnostic capabilities, allowing vehicles to monitor real-time emission performance more effectively. TVS’ entire two-wheeler line-up, including models like the Apache, NTorq and Raider, is expected to complete this transition over the coming weeks.
Jupiter 110
The Jupiter 110, which holds the distinction of being TVS’ top-selling scooter and the second-best seller in India’s scooter segment after the Honda Activa, recently received a significant update. This refresh brings it closer in design and features to its larger sibling, the Jupiter 125.
One of the key additions to the latest model is the Integrated Starter Generator, a technology that provides a gentle electric assist during initial acceleration. This feature, which has previously been introduced on some Yamaha models, is gaining popularity in the commuter segment for its contribution to smoother, more efficient performance.
Updated Technology Across the Range
TVS has stated that the shift to OBD2B compliance has involved significant upgrades to the electronic systems and sensor technology across its portfolio. These improvements not only help meet the stricter emission benchmarks but also enhance real-time diagnostics and monitoring capabilities.
Pricing and Market Position
The OBD2B-compliant TVS Jupiter 110 is available in four variants, with prices starting at Rs. 76,691 and going up to Rs. 89,791 (ex-showroom, Delhi). This places it in direct competition with other popular scooters, especially those from Honda, which has also upgraded nearly all of its commuter two-wheelers to meet the new emission standards.
As the regulatory deadline nears, more manufacturers are expected to make similar announcements, ensuring their vehicles comply with the latest emission requirements while keeping up with technological advancements that improve efficiency and sustainability.
