The TVS iQube claims a range of 75 kms with a top speed of 78 km/hr.
There are more electric scooter companies in India then all motorcycle makers combined but now mainstream 2-wheeler brands are entering the electric space. Earlier this month, we witnessed the launch of the Bajaj Chetak and today, TVS has launched a rival to it in the form of the iQube.
The TVS iQube is an electric scooter with a claimed range of 75 kms while the top speed is 78 km/hr. 0-40 km/hr comes up in 4.2 seconds and the 4.4 kW electric motor comes with 2 riding modes – economy and power. The scooter gets regenerative braking and a non-removable battery (capacity is 2.25 kWh), it’s available in only one colour – white, that too only in Bangalore and can be booked online or via 10 TVS dealerships.
The TVS SmartXonnect uses a TFT cluster and the TVS iQube app for various features including remote battery charge status, last park location, navigation assist, geo-fencing and incoming call and message alert functions. The electric scooter also gets a day and night display, Q-park assist (forward and reverse at speeds of up to 2 km/hr), U shaped DRL, LED head and tail lights along with an illuminated logo near the motor.
TVS has offered some bits from the Jupiter too, like the stylish wheels. The scooter uses a 12-inch front tyre and comes with a front disc as standard. The booking amount for this electric scooter is Rs. 5000/- and the on-road price in Bangalore is Rs. 1.15 lakhs. The other rival to the TVS iQube is the Ather 450 whose updated model, the 450X, is set for launch on the 28th of January, 2020.
