TVS showcased the Draken concept at the 2014 Auto Expo earlier this year. This motorcycle grabbed a lot of eyeballs from viewers and enthusiasts and it was termed as one of the most interesting products displayed at the show. The Draken borrows some styling elements from BMW Motorrad and the bike features a very striking and unique design philosophy. TVS has high hopes from the Draken and it has everything that is needed to be a sure-shot hit in India.
TVS displayed the Draken concept at an event held at the Jakarta Fairground in Indonesia to gauge response from viewers. The company needed honest feedback on the product and the feedback will be compiled by officials and used for future developments on the motorcycle. While the Draken is still a concept, the actual production version will also be out in the near future and it might be termed as the Apache 250 for the Indian market. The Apache RTR 160 and 180 are already favoured by enthusiasts and the Draken may carry the legacy forward.
The TVS Draken is powered by a 249.2cc, 4-valve, DOHC engine which uses liquid-cooling. Maximum power output is rated at 38.5 BHP while peak torque is rated at 23 Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Something really unique about the Draken is the reverse free flow exhaust system that TVS has incorporated. The Draken comes with a 10-litre fuel tank but it requires 95 octane fuel for optimum performance. This might be a downside since not all petrol pumps in India supply fuel of higher octane. Overall, the TVS Draken seems like a very promising product and if TVS manages to price it aggressively, we can watch out the Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS and KTM Duke 200 running for cover.
