TVS Apache RTX 300 adventure tourer patented in India, to get new 299cc engine
TVS Motor Company has secured the design patent for its upcoming adventure touring motorcycle, the Apache RTX 300, ahead of its expected launch in India during the latter half of 2025. The patent images provide a comprehensive look at the motorcycle’s design, confirming several key details about its styling and mechanical components.
Distinctive Design and Features
The Apache RTX 300 adopts a road-oriented adventure touring stance, featuring 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels. The motorcycle sports a twin-pod headlamp setup, a semi-fairing and a minimalist tail section, reminiscent of the Himalayan 450. Notably, the design omits a prominent front beak, suggesting it may be offered as an optional accessory. The overall styling leans toward a rounded aesthetic, bearing similarities to previous-generation Triumph Tiger 800 models.
Chassis and Suspension Setup
Underpinning the Apache RTX 300 is a custom-designed steel trellis frame, paired with a bolt-on sub-frame. The bike is expected to feature a long-travel suspension system, comprising inverted front forks and a rear monoshock. Braking duties will be handled by disc brakes at both ends, with safety enhancements likely to include a switchable dual-channel ABS system.
Engine and Performance
At the heart of the Apache RTX 300 is a newly developed 299cc, liquid-cooled RTX D4 engine. This powertrain marks a shift away from the BMW-sourced 312cc engine previously used by TVS, positioning the company more competitively in India’s adventure motorcycle segment. The engine is expected to produce 35 BHP and 28.5 Nm of peak torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox that includes an assist and slipper clutch for smoother gear shifts.
Technology and Features
The upcoming model is set to incorporate modern rider aids such as a ride-by-wire throttle, a traction control system and multiple riding modes. Additionally, TVS may offer a bi-directional quickshifter as an optional feature. Standard equipment is expected to include LED lighting, a full-colour TFT display and dual-channel ABS, enhancing the bike’s overall appeal to adventure touring enthusiasts.
