TVS had set a yearly target of 10,000 unit sales for the Apache RR 310.
TVS Motor Company’s flagship motorcycle, the Apache RR 310, has missed its annual sales target for 2018 by a considerable margin. The company was able to sell 5297 units throughout the year, while the yearly target was set at 10,000 units.
The sales of the motorcycle was a bad show in the last two months during the year, with sales of 132 units and 185 units in November and December months respectively. The increase in price of insurance and the launch of motorcycles like the Royal Enfield 650 twins and Jawa twins are some of the reasons for lower sales numbers towards the end of 2018.
Whereas, the BMW G 310 twins – the G310 R and G310 GS made it to the top five selling BMW Motorrad bikes of 2018. BMW sold 24,363 units of the G 310 R and G 310 GS models globally. The German automaker itself sold 1640 units of the G 310 R and G 310 GS in 2018 in India. The BMW G 310 twins fall into the premium price range, costing more than Rs. 3 lakhs, thereby competing with twin-cylinder Japanese motorcycles.
The TVS Apache RR 310 made its debut at a price of Rs. 2.05 lakhs and currently retails at Rs. 2.23 lakhs, being Rs. 20,000/- cheaper than the KTM Duke 390. TVS exports the Apache RR 310 in Nepal and Peru as well.
