The TVS Akula 310 will be launched by March 2017, will be the first motorcycle to be sold under the TVS-BMW collaboration.
The TVS Akula 310 is an entry-level sports bike which holds BMW technology and will be sold under the TVS banner in India. The anticipation for this motorcycle among Indian buyers will end next year as the company will launch it in March 2017. Moreover, it is expected to be priced aggressively under the range of Rs. 2 lakhs, giving a tough competition to its rivals.
The first motorcycle to be launched under the joint venture of TVS and BMW, the TVS Akula 310 (likely to be called Apache 300 on launch) is based on its much awaited naked version, the BMW G310R. Both the bikes carry a similar capacity of engine, the state of tune will be changed according to their respective version, though. The G310R, being a practical naked bike, will have a linear power distribution whereas the Akula 310 will churn out aggressive acceleration. The exact specifications of the Akula 310 are not revealed yet. However, the G310R engine belts out 34 BHP and 28 Nm.
The TVS Akula 310 was unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo which had turned many heads with its sporty and menacing looks with such a small capacity engine. The KTM RC 390, with its power figures and attractive price tag, has been ruling the market of this segment of full faired motorcycles. However, the low price of the Akula 310 could make it perform quite well in the budget conscious Indian market. A newcomer is expected to be added soon in the competition with a 302cc engine by Benelli, christened the Tornado 302.
