A turbo Yamaha R15 in Thailand hits a top speed of 180 km/hr on the dyno.
Thailand-based tuning house ‘TuneBoss’ has modified a Yamaha R15 that can do speeds up to 180 km/hr! Yes, 180 km/hr. While specifications on the motorcycle aren’t available yet, a top speed check on the dyno shows the modified R15 maxing out at 180 km/hr. That’s a pretty high speed for a near 150cc single-cylinder engined motorcycle.
Producing 22.9 HP of power, the Turbo Yamaha R15 redlines above the 12,000 RPM mark on the tachometer. The motorcycle features a turbo kit for the engine, free-flow exhaust, quick-shifter, custom rear swingarm, voltmeter, gear shift indicator, aftermarket clip-on handlebar, custom orange body paint, projector headlights, inverted front forks, rear cowl and red LED parking bulbs.
While this is the V2 of the R15 you see here, Yamaha currently sells the R15 V3 in Thailand. The R15 V3 is powered by a 155cc single-cylinder and fuel-injected motor which produces 19.04 HP and 14.7 Nm of torque. The motorcycle gets inverted forks, slipper clutch, LED headlamps and a full-digital instrument cluster. The Japanese automaker has also planned to launch the R15 V3 in India in January 2018 and if we were to go by the spy shots, the India-spec R15 V3 misses out on crucial hardware like inverted forks and a slipper clutch.
