Triumph is secretly working on a Tiger 850 Sport which will be revealed next year, even as it is keeping everyone’s attention on the entry-level Trident.
Until now, news about the new model was non-existent. However, thanks to new US emissions documents, details about the bike have emerged.
Based on the Tiger 900, the Tiger 850 Sport will have similar specs. Thus, powering the bike would be an 888cc engine that puts out 93.9 BHP at 8750 RPM and 87 Nm at 7250 RPM.
The reason why Triumph has opted to call the bike an “850” instead of Tiger 900 might be to distance it from the latter.
Design of the bike might be closer to the existing 1050 Tiger Sport and thus, it will be a road bike with a sporty feel and comfortable seating and by the looks of it, we reckon it will rival the BMW F 900 XR, which carries a similar ethos.
This is not the only new bike that Triumph will be introducing next year. The Hinckley-based firm is developing a new 1160cc triple engine to power the new Speed Triple and Tiger 1200 models.
We might even see a Tiger Sport powered by the engine that will rival the BMW S 1000 XR in the future.
Also, joining the Triumph Tiger 850 Sport will be three entry-level bikes, the first of which will be the Trident.
It will be powered by a 660cc three-cylinder engine and the same motor will also be at the heart of an entry-level Tiger Sport and an adventure bike as well.
