Triumph is set to launch the Tiger 850 Sport in India early next year, only a few months after its global unveil.
The adventure motorcycle that sits beneath the Tiger 900 in the bikemaker’s portfolio, has also been listed on the firm’s website.
Likely to be priced at around Rs. 11 lakhs (ex-showroom) when it makes its market entry here, the bike will be the entry point to Triumph’s Tiger adventure tourer range.
Although it is built on the latest generation Tiger platform, its maker is adamant that its performance and specification set-up is different and designed to stick to the black stuff.
To keep costs from spiralling out of control, Triumph has made use of more Tiger 900 components and technology. The styling too is very similar and there is all-LED lighting, a 5-inch TFT digital display and even a 12 V power socket on offer.
Powered by a 888cc triple that makes 85 PS maximum power and 82 Nm peak torque, the bike that weighs 192 kg (dry) has enough poke to say the least and the engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox with slip and assist clutch.
There are 2 riding modes – Road and Rain – on offer, while the traction control system is switchable and Triumph has used Marzocchi suspension and Brembo Stylema brakes as well.
Set to compete against the BMW F 750 GS, the Triumph Tiger 850 Sport launch will be part of the bikemaker’s 9-model-strong product offensive in the first half of 2021.
