Triumph Motorcycles has officially entered into the Indian market last month. The British manufacturer is well famed globally for offering premium sports bikes. Let us now checkout the complete details of the Thunderbird Storm and Rocket III Roadster, two cruiser bikes from the iconic British manufacturer. Both models come in via the CBU route and in spite of that, are priced very attractively compared to competition.
The Triumph Thunderbird Storm is powered by a 1700cc, two-cylinder engine with a maximum power output of 98 HP and is mated to a six-speed transmission setup with a high top end ratio for relaxed highway cruising and to get exceptional fuel efficiency figures. This engine is derived from the 1597cc engine which does duty on the Thunderbird. The power delivery of this engine is smooth with the use of twin balance shaft mechanism. The engine is tuned to deliver instant thrust even at very low RPMs.
The Triumph Thunderbird Storm possesses a hard edged styling and retains the twin headlights from the original Thunderbird. The engine is liquid-cooled and the radiator is placed unobtrusively between the frame tubes and the twin exhausts. The suspension setup can be adjusted based on the requirements of the rider. The Storm comes with ABS as a standard and it offers a comfortable riding position. The pillion seat can be detached when not required.
The Thunderbird Storm comes equipped with Metzeler tyres which are placed on five spoke cast aluminium alloy wheels that are light for sharper handling. The seat of the Thunderbird is positioned just 700 mm from the ground level which might be very useful in providing access to short riders. An on-board computer is provided which is used to display a clock, twin trip meters, fuel gauge along with a compact rev counter and electronic self cancelling indicators. The Triumph Thunderbird Storm is priced at Rs. 13 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The Triumph Rocket III Roadster is the premium flagship motorcycle from the company and comes equipped with a 2294cc, three-cylinder engine which is the world’s biggest motorcycle engine in production and it is based on the original Rocket III. This bike provides a thunderous roar and an impressive ride quality. Its rigid frame construction and the sophisticated suspension setup gives confidence to the rider to sweep through corners and change directions.
The Rocket III Roadster features blackened components including radiator cowls, rear mud guard rails, air box cover, fork protectors and mirrors. This bike features a big, tubular steel twin spine design. Triumph has also added the highly accurate sequential fuel injection system which provides the power output predictably and smoothly. This bike comes equipped with 320 mm front disc brakes and 316 mm rear disc brake and is provided with an advanced ABS system which continuously monitors the speed of the bike.
The Triumph Rocket III is provided with an immobiliser as standard and there is an on-board computer that displays fuel gauge, gear shift indicator, dual trip meter and a real time clock in addition to the basic functions. Triumph has priced the Rocket III at Rs. 20 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
