Triumph Thruxton 400 Spotted Testing, Will Have The Same Engine As The Speed 400
Triumph was spotted testing the Thruxton with the 400cc engine. The Thruxton 400 borrows aspects such as fairing and clip-on handlebars from the Speed 400 and more. It is expected to be priced at around Rs. 2.9 lakhs.
Styling Changes
The design of the bike seems to be reminiscent of the Speed 1200 RR, especially the fairing. The positioning of the headlight and bubble visor makes the resemblance uncanny. The fairing’s size is proportional to the rest of the bike and doesn’t seem to be an afterthought.
The Tail Section has also been redesigned to conform with the rest of the café racer dimensions of the bike. Triumph could’ve taken the easy route to put the tail section of the Speed into the Thruxton but that would’ve seemed like an oversight.
Additionally, the observable difference is also there in the pillion seat cowl and the bar end mirrors.
Engine
The Thruxton will be powered by the 398cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine producing 39.5 HP at 8000 RPM and 37.5 Nm of torque at 6500 RPM. It will be mated to a 6-speed gearbox. It has the same engine and transmission combination as the Speed 400.
Features
The Thruxton will also get a combination of the analogue-digital instrument cluster, all-LED Lighting and dual-channel ABS. It is expected that the tyres, suspension and braking setup should remain the same as the Speed 400.
Outlook
The Triumph Thruxton 400 is expected to be unveiled later this year. It is a tantalizing prospect to see the competent 400cc with a café racer. It remains to be seen where the Thruxton slot in the Triumph 400cc lineup that now has Speed 400, Speed T4, and Scrambler 400X.
