Triumph Motorcycles India has launched the Street Triple R with a price tag of Rs. 8.84 lakhs (ex-showroom). The streetfighter motorcycle was launched through a digital event, in tune with the current trend.
Design-wise, the bike looks no different to the Street Triple RS that sits at the top of this particular range of motorcycles. Twin LED headlight setup that some like and some despise, LED DRLs, a new fly screen, sculpted fuel tank, step-up split seats and a redesigned bodywork are all present.
Instrument display is LCD that shows the speed, fuel level, lap times, gear position and clock. Also present are programmable gear change lights, TPMS and an analogue tachometer.
Three riding modes are on offer for riders – Rain (power restricted to 100 PS), Road and Sport, while there is ride-by-wire and traction control as well.
In all, the mid-spec Street Triple bike weighs 168 kg (dry) and has a 17.4-litre fuel tank. The seat height is 825 mm, but a low seat version (780 mm) is also available.
Several of the above mentioned parts are shared with the RS, but since the Triumph Street Triple R price will be lower than the former, it does have some differences, mainly in engine power.
The BS6-compliant 765cc in-line 3-cylinder engine in the Street Triple R produces 118 PS of max power at 12,000 RPM and 79 Nm of peak torque at 9350 RPM. Triumph says the engine has 7 percent less rotational inertia. It is mated to a 6-speed transmission with slip and assist clutch and a bi-directional quick shifter.
Suspension on the bike is taken care of by adjustable Showa 41 mm USD big piston forks upfront and adjustable Showa piggyback reservoir monoshock at the rear.
Braking power comes from twin 310 mm floating discs with Brembo 4-piston radial monobloc calipers at the front and at the back, a 220 mm disc with Brembo single piston caliper does duty and ABS is present too. Also, the bike rides on Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres.
Triumph Street Triple R price also warrants two new paint and graphics schemes – Sapphire Black and Matt Silver Ice and both schemes feature Diablo Red and Aluminium Silver decals, hand-painted red wheel pinstripes, and the signature Street Triple R red rear sub-frame.
