The new dual-purpose Scrambler 1200 is available in the XC variant only in India.
The new Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC has been launched in India, priced at Rs. 10.73 lakhs (ex-showroom). Triumph has built this bike to excel on both tarmac and off-road. The Scrambler XC borrows the 1200cc engine from the Thruxton and that is the only carried over component on the bike.
Belonging to the Bonneville family of the Triumph line up, the bike gets all-new chassis, suspension setup, design, etc. In the international market, the bike is offered in two variants, XC and XE, but in India, the company offers the XC variant only.
The bike comes with a ravishing new TFT instrument console that gets Google navigation assist and GoPro integration to capture images and video. It is a proper feature loaded bike and comes with keyless ignition, ride-by-wire, cruise control, USB charging, and a torque-assisted clutch.
The list of features doesn’t stop there, it gets 5 riding modes, switchable ABS, and traction control. Road, rain, sport, off-road and rider custom are the 5 modes that the rider can choose from. Powering the bike is a 1200cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled, 8-valve, SOHC engine. This revised Thruxton engine pumps out 89 BHP at 7400 RPM and 110 Nm of torque at 3950 RPM. Gear changes are carried by a 6-speed gearbox, with wet, multi-plate assist clutch.
The bike runs on 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels that are wrapped with Metzeler Tourance dual-purpose tyres. Suspension duties are handled by Showa 45mm fully adjustable USD front forks with 200 mm of travel and fully adjustable Ohlins twin shocks at the rear with 200 mm of travel. With the 1200cc engine, you need an impressive stopping power, which is delivered by 320 mm twin discs with Brembo calipers for the front and a 255 mm single disc with Brembo 2-piston floating caliper at the rear.
