The wait has been long but the wait might be well worth it. After storming to the 2012 Auto Expo with a wide range of bikes, Triumph is now all set to start sales. The British automaker commences its operations in India with motorcycles which are locally assembled at its new Manesar facility. Triumph has finally launched its motorcycles in India and the company has also announced its dealers.
Triumph has 742 dealerships worldwide with 11 subsidiary offices, 21 independent distributors, 5 OEM manufacturing plants and 2 CKD plants (including India). Triumph has witnessed a 130% increase in sales in the last 10 years and the company is about to reach the highest sales ever in 2013. The company has 20.3% market share in the UK.
Triumph has launched 10 models in India. The Bonneville, Bonneville T100, Speed Triple, Street Triple, Thruxton and Daytona 675R are locally assembled while the Rocket III, Tiger Explorer, Tiger 800 XC and Thunderbird Storm are brought in via the CBU route. The range starts from Rs. 5.7 lakhs for the Bonneville and goes up to Rs. 20 lakhs for the Rocket III (ex-showroom). Bookings start in second week of December. All Triumph bikes are offered with 2-years, unlimited mileage warranty.
Paul Stroud (Director Sales and Marketing, Triumph) believes that the premium motorcycle segment in India is seeing tremendous growth and this was the right time to establish the iconic British motorcycle brand’s foothold in the country. The company feels proud to offer the customers a range of motorcycles for different riding preferences. Triumph is offering five different categories of motorcycles that include Classics, Roadsters, Adventure, Cruisers and Supersports.
Vimal Sumbly is the Managing Director of Triumph Motorcycles India, who has announced the first phase of Triumph dealerships in India that includes Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. The dealerships will be offering genuine parts, after-sales services, merchandise and accessories. Over the next few months, Triumph India will setup more dealerships across India.
