Triumph motorcycles recently announced their intentions to enter India and now a new model in their line up could emerge. This new model is very important because it is for emerging markets and could well make it to India very soon. The artist impression shows the upcoming 350cc machine draws heavy inspiration from the company’s Speed Triple motorcycle. A 350cc, four valve, liquid cooled, single-cylinder unit could power the new Triumph machine, with power ranging between 25-35 bhp. The UK automaker could utilize its Thailand facility to manufacture this machine and export kits as CKD to India and Brazil for local assembly in these countries.
Now, recently Triumph appointed an ex-Royal Enfield man, Ashish Joshi as their MD for India. Mr. Joshi was at a very senior position at RE, Europe and could be the master mind behind the idea of an affordable Triumph motorcycle. With the specifications forecasted of the upcoming Triumph machine and the current situation of the performance motorcycle market in India, a price of over Rs. 3 lakhs would be a wrong decision for the British company. Thus in order to succeed, it is imperative they price the bike below the Ninja 250R. The KTM Duke 200 alon with the upcoming Yamaha 250 and Triumph 350 are only going to make performance motorcycling enthusiasts smile with a big grin.
