Triumph Daytona 660 is the most powerful Triumph bike in the 660 lineup
Triumph Daytona 660 launched in India with a starting price of Rs. 9.72 lakhs (ex-showroom). This new addition to Triumph’s 660cc range is positioned as the most powerful motorcycle within the 660 portfolio, offering a competitive alternative to models such as the Kawasaki Ninja 650 and Aprilia RS 660.
Key Highlights of the Daytona 660
The Daytona 660 is powered by a 660cc inline three-cylinder engine, which is shared with the Trident 660 and Tiger Sport 660. However, in the Daytona, this engine is tuned to its highest output, delivering 95 HP at 11,250 RPM and 69 Nm torque at 8250 RPM. This represents a 14 HP and 5 Nm increase over its naked and adventure counterparts. While the performance figures do not reach the levels of the older Daytona 675, Triumph emphasises that the Daytona 660 offers a more user-friendly and comfortable experience.
In terms of weight, the Daytona 660 tips the scales at 12 kg more than the Trident 660 but is 5 kg lighter than the Tiger Sport 660. The motorcycle features a seat height of 810 mm, which is 25 mm lower than the Tiger Sport 660 and 5 mm higher than the Trident 660. The Daytona 660 comes equipped with a 14-litre fuel tank, similar to the Trident 660 and is available in three colour options globally: Snowdonia White, Satin Granite and Carnival Red.
Pricing and Market Positioning
The pricing of the Daytona 660 in India places it Rs. 27,000 above the Tiger Sport 660 and Rs. 1.60 lakhs higher than the Trident 660. The Daytona 660 competes directly with models like the Kawasaki Ninja 650, Aprilia RS 660 and the upcoming Honda CBR650R and Suzuki GSX-8R.
The launch of the Triumph Daytona 660 introduces a new option for enthusiasts seeking a blend of power and comfort in the mid-range sportbike segment. Its pricing and performance place it in a competitive position within the Indian market, though potential buyers may weigh it against slightly more powerful and feature-rich alternatives.
