Toyota Yaris Cross is a compact SUV based on the hatchback.
Toyota has pulled the wraps off the new Yaris Cross. It is a crossover version based on the hatchback. The Japanese carmaker will be making this in France to cater the European market.
In terms of styling, the Toyota Yaris Cross looks quite sharp and upmarket. There are LED headlights up front with a unique grille design and a Toyota badge sitting on the nose.
There is body cladding around the lower half of the car justifying the ‘Cross’ name with squared out wheel arches. There is a floating roof design and the shiny set of 18-inch alloys look quite premium.
Honestly, the rear profile reminds us of the Tata Altroz a lot with the blacked out tail lamps having LED lights. Overall a fresh looking compact SUV from Toyota.
The interior comes with a 3-spoke sporty looking steering wheel, there is an analogue instrument cluster, a huge floating touchscreen infotainment system, ambient lighting, etc.
Powering the Toyota Yaris Cross is a 1.5-litre petrol hybrid engine which produces a combined power output of 116 BHP. It is available with FWD and AWD options.
Toyota India should consider introducing the Yaris Cross in our country with heavy localisation and aggressive pricing to churn out huge volumes.
However, it is unlikely to come to India for the time being as the Yaris Cross will hit the European markets first with sales starting next year onwards.
