Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor Launch On 3rd April, Rebadged Maruti Fronx

Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor likely to get unique cosmetic changes up front

Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor, rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, now officially confirmed to be unveiled on 3rd April. The anticipation has been building since August 2023 when Toyota trademarked the “Urban Cruiser Taisor” nameplate in India. With its imminent arrival, expectations are high for what this new addition will bring to the segment.

Expected to be named the Urban Cruiser Taisor, this compact SUV will be based on the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, promising familiar yet refreshed features. As is customary with shared models between Toyota and Maruti, cosmetic differences are anticipated while the core remains unchanged.

In terms of exterior updates, the Urban Cruiser Taisor is likely to mirror the approach taken with models like the Baleno-Glanza. Enthusiasts can anticipate refreshed bumpers, revised headlamp clusters, redesigned grille and possibly new LED DRLs and alloy wheels.

Inside, while the dashboard layout will likely resemble that of the Fronx, Toyota is expected to introduce new colour schemes and trim materials, offering a refreshed aesthetic. However, the equipment list may see some variations across trims, with Toyota likely offering a distinct lineup compared to its Maruti counterpart.

Under the hood, the Taisor is expected to inherit the same 1.2-litre petrol engine from the Fronx. The possibility of incorporating the 1.0-litre BoosterJet engine remains uncertain. Additionally, the availability of a CNG powertrain option, present in the Fronx, is expected to carry over.

With its impending launch, the Urban Cruiser Taisor is poised to reignite Toyota’s presence in the sub-4m SUV segment following the discontinuation of the Brezza-based Urban Cruiser. Pricing is expected to reflect a marginal premium over its Maruti counterpart, aligning with Toyota’s brand positioning.
