Toyota has initiated a recall campaign for 9498 units of the Urban Cruiser compact SUV to rectify an issue pertaining to the car’s airbag module.
The recall campaign covers all variants of the Urban Cruiser manufactured between 28th July 2020 and 11th February 2021.
According to Toyota, this recall campaign has been voluntarily undertaken to rectify a possible issue with the compact SUV’s driver side airbag module assembly.
All of the 9498 units will be inspected and the affected part in them will be replaced free of charge to customers. The carmaker’s dealers will contact Toyota’s customers whose cars are subject to this recall campaign.
Customers who wish to know whether their car comes under the Toyota Urban Cruiser recall campaign can contact their nearest dealer or call Toyota’s customer assistance centre.
Since the Urban Cruiser is essentially a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, some might assume that a few units of the popular car might also be affected with the same issue.
However, Maruti Suzuki has not provided any official statement with regard to the same and thus, it is safe to assume that the Vitara Brezza has been immune to the issue.
