Toyota Urban Cruiser launch expected before the festive season.
Toyota recently registered Urban Cruiser trademarked which is likely to be used for the Toyota version of the Maruti Vitara Brezza. The compact SUV is now expected to launch by August this year.
Unlike the Toyota Glanza, the Toyota Urban Cruiser will get more differentiation from the Maruti Vitara Brezza. It is likey to come with a new larger grille and revised bumpers.
The rear bumpers are expected to change too while the headlights, tail lights and alloy wheels will remain more or less the same as the Vitara Brezza facelift. There will be no sheet metal changes as it adds to the cost.
The interior of the Toyota Urban Cruiser will be redone as well. It will get new lighter colour tones than the Brezza and new graphics. Toyota’s version of the compact SUV is likely to be offered with more features as well.
In terms of mechanicals, it will share the same 1.5-litre petrol engine from the Brezza. However, the Urban Cruiser will get mild hybrid tech on the manual version as well. It will result in improved fuel efficiency figures.
Toyota will keep the pricing similar to the Maruti Vitara Brezza ranging from Rs. 7.5 to 11.5 lakhs (ex-showroom). The Urban Cruiser will get a longer 3-year standard warranty pack.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser has a wide range of compact SUVs to deal with in the Indian market. It will compete with Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport and the likes.
