Global NCAP has found the safety test performance of the Toyota Urban Cruiser to be good
In the latest round of safety assessments, Global NCAP also tested the Toyota Urban Cruiser (model year 2022) and the compact SUV did very well to score 4 stars for adult occupant protection.
In its most basic form, the 2022 Urban Cruiser had 2 airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, seatbelt reminder, ISOFIX anchorages and ABS. It did not have side body, knee or head airbags.
When crash-tested, the car that weighed 1324 kg, scored 4 stars or 13.52 points out of 17 for adult occupant protection. Global NCAP found that it offered good protection to the driver’s head and passenger’s neck and chest.
However, the driver’s and passenger’s knees showed marginal protection. Both the bodyshell and footwell area of the car were rated as stable and the compact SUV was found to be capable of withstanding further loadings.
In the child occupant protection (COP) test, the 2022 Urban Cruiser scored 3 stars or 36.68 points out of a possible 49, with the 1.5-year-old child dummy receiving good protection.
The 3-year-old was also fairly cocooned. But, the lack of 3-point seatbelts in all seating positions and the high neck biomechanical values in the frontal crash explain the 3 stars for child occupant protection.
