Toyota has updated the Innova by adding few cosmetic updates and safety features like airbags and ABS have also been made standard.
The Toyota Innova MPV was first launched in India way back in 2005. The vehicle completes 10 years in the Indian auto market but not much has changed. Toyota continues to sell the same Innova that it did 10 years back and the only difference is that the MPV kept getting cosmetic updates at regular intervals to keep the product line-up fresh. Toyota will be launching the all-new Innova in 2016 and has now launched the 2015 Innova which is actually an updated version of the current generation Innova.
2015 Toyota Innova Changes –
- New front grille
- New alloy wheels
- Leather seats
- Wooden finish steering wheel
- Touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity
- Dual airbags and ABS made standard in every variant
The above changes are minor as the grille is very similar to the 2014 model. It is good to see more and more manufacturers making safety features like airbags and ABS standard in the their vehicles. The 2015 Innova does not feature any mechanical changes and it continues to be powered by the same 2.0-litre petrol and 2.5-litre diesel engines. Toyota has also hiked the prices of this hot-selling MPV and now the Innova is priced between Rs. 10.51-15.80 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The top Z variant sees a massive price hike of Rs. 73,000/- owing to the recent excise duty hike.
Toyota recently launched a limited edition variant of the Innova and has been making hay while the MPV sells due to the lack of direct competition. Maruti Suzuki is working on a Innova sized MPV for launch in 2017 which will sit above the Ertiga in India’s largest car maker’s line-up.
