Toyota has big plans for India. On the cards is a small car, Fortuner, Lexus and now the Land Cruiser diesel. Toyota will launch the Land Cruiser diesel in India, powered by a 4.5 litre V8 engine pumping out 286PS of power at 3600rpm and a monstrous 650NM of torque at just 1600rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The Land Cruiser is one of the best four wheel drive vehicles.
But don’t expect all this to come cheap. The excise duty structure for CBUs will make the car cost around Rs. 80 lakh. Booking amount will be Rs. 10 lakh. With competitors like the Audi Q7, BMW X5 and Mercedes M-Class, selling the Land Cruiser Diesel won’t be a easy task for Toyota dealerships.
