The Toyota Rush will be built on the company’s new TNGA platform which will also be shared with Suzuki to make their own SUVs.
The Toyota Rush was already planned for launch in India and now the news of the compact SUV arriving has been confirmed. With the Toyota Rush, the company will mark its entry into the compact SUV segment. With the addition of the Rush compact SUV, Toyota will have a strong portfolio of products for India which also includes the upcoming Glanza.
The upcoming Toyota Rush will be built on the new TNGA platform. The single shell chassis will ensure that the vehicle is lightweight. Moreover, the platform will also be used by Suzuki to build their own SUVs. It is unclear as to what engine options will be offered by Toyota but we can expect a petrol hybrid.
Toyota might offer the 1.5-litre petrol engine from the Yaris sedan in the Rush. The 1.5-litre petrol engine on the Yaris makes 107 BHP and 141 Nm of torque. Transmission options could be in the form of a manual gearbox as well as automatic. The car is expected to be priced from Rs. 13 lakhs and it will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks and Renault Captur.
