Toyota India has decided to make temporary production adjustments due to supply difficulties, following the March 11, earthquake and tsunami in Japan. The company will suspend production on Mondays and Fridays between April 25 and June 4. The Japanese automaker will operate at approx 30% of its normal capacity during this period. However this will not impact the company’s service and spare parts supply operations. Customer services at the dealership will be conducted as usual and current Toyota owners need not worry. However prospective Toyota buyers will have to wait longer to get their new cars.
“It is important to note that this is a necessary response to a short term supply issue and we intend to restore the normal operations as soon as possible. Our focus is on ensuring optimum stock management to reduce the impact on our customers from the immediate production shortfalls,” Mr. Hiroshi Nakagawa, Managing Director said.
