Toyota seems to be a on a limited edition launch spree. The Japanese automaker recently launched the Corolla Aero, Etios Liva TRD Sportivo and Innova Aero and now the company has launched the TRD Sportivo of the Etios sedan. Toyota will also launch a limited edition variant of the Fortuner in the near future, in a bid to build buzz around its product during the upcoming festive season. The Etios TRD Sportivo is also a limited edition model and has already arrived at the dealerships.
The exteriors of the Etios TRD Sportivo gets front and rear bumper spoilers, aerodynamic side skirts, racing-inspired body graphics and 15-inch alloy wheels. All these features only add to the aesthetic appeal of the vehicle, which is otherwise a very bland design. Not much has been done for the interiors. The seats get a new fabric with TRD Sportivo logo on it. Apart from this, the silver shift lever knob is the additional featured on this limited edition model.
The Toyota Etios comes in both the petrol and diesel engine options. The Etios TRD Sportivo is priced at Rs. 6.25 lakhs for the petrol variant and Rs. 7.31 lakhs for the diesel variant (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). The petrol engine uses a 1.5-litre DOHC heart where as the diesel model comes with the 1.4-litre D-4D unit. Both these engines are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Etios rivals the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire and the Ford Classic. The Japanese automaker is said to be working on a crossover based on the Etios platform.
