Toyota has managed to enter the mass market for hatchback and entry level sedan via the Etios and Etios Liva but the both the cars are not doing that great because of no diesel engine option. Toyota when launching Etios said that the diesel version will be coming too and finally that day has come and the Japanese automaker has launched both its volume cars with a diesel heart. The Engine used in both the cars is the same 1.4 liter diesel motor which is seen doing duty on the Toyota Corolla. The engine used in both these cars will use Fixed Geometry Turbo (FGT) which is tuned for mileage and both these vehicles deliver 23.59 kmpl (certified by ARAI).

This 1.4 liter FGT produces 68 PS of power at 3800 RPM and 170Nm of torque at 1800-2400 RPM. The Etios Sedan will be available in GD, VD, and VXD variant. Here GD is the base model with electric power steering as a standard and airbags and ABS as optional. VD and VXD will sport 15-inch alloy wheels as opposed to 14-inch steel wheels for GD variant. Tachometer is missing in the GD variant and seen on VD and VXD variants. Rest of the features are similar to the petrol model. Etios Liva hatchback will be available only in one variant and has all features similar to its petrol sibling. Most of the features offered by Toyota are optional on the Liva like ABS and airbags.
