The facelift has added some excitement to the Camry Hybrid with a dash of chrome induced flamboyance while keeping the impressive powertrain intact from the outgoing model.
Bringing the latest iteration of its popular selling model globally, Toyota India has officially launched the 2015 Camry Hybrid facelift in the country priced at Rs. 31.92 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). With the new generation Camry launched in 2013 in the country, the update comes at the right time and will help keep the premium D+ segment sedan offering relevant with its petrol and hybrid powertrain options. With the latest update, the Camry facelift gets comprehensive cosmetic changes along with new feature additions to the cabin.
Design – Starting with the updated front fascia, the 2015 Toyota Camry facelift sports a sleek new chrome grille replacing the chunky Lexus-like chrome unit on the outgoing model along with some chrome garnish added to the front hood. The sedan gets a new headlamp cluster with LED DRLs, an inverted trapezoidal air intake and chrome garnish that integrates the fog lamps around the corners. The turn indicators are vertically stacked at the sides on the bumper. The side profile remains largely the same, save for the new alloy wheels while the rear gets some added chrome garnish on the boot-lid and marginally revised energy efficient tail lamps with LEDs for a refreshed look. The ground clearance has seen a marginal increase.
Interiors – On the inside, the 2015 Camry facelift has retained the layout from the outgoing model but sports a revised multi-function steering wheel, new 6.1-inch display screen and a 4.2-inch TFT screen on the instrument console. The upholstery has been revised and is available in beige. The car continues to offer ample of legroom and a plush ride quality for the passengers.
Engine – Powering the 2015 Toyota Camry facelift is the same 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that is tuned to produce 181 PS of power at 6000 RPM and 233 Nm of torque at 4100 RPM, paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 2015 Camry Hybrid facelift also continues with the same powertrain using the petrol engine paired to an electric motor that cumulatively churns out 205 PS of power and 451 Nm of torque, paired to an electronically controlled CVT transmission.
Fuel Efficiency – The 2015 Camry Hybrid returns a fuel efficiency figure of 19.16 km/l and CO2 emission levels are reduced 122.8 g/km.
Toyota India sold 720 Camrys in the country in 2014, of which 73 percent or 523 units were Hybrid models. With the Indian government’s FAME initiative, the Camry Hybrid has also received an incentive of Rs. 70,000/- that will be available later and will be directly passed on to the customers. Given the amount of features and a luxurious cabin, the Camry manages to beat several luxury cars and puts up a tough fight against the popular Skoda Superb in the segment. With the appealing new look on offer, the 2015 Camry Hybrid is a swell option for those who believe in a smaller carbon footprint without having to compromise on luxury.
