Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, positioned below the Land Cruiser LC300, spotted in India
Toyota hasn’t launched the Land Cruiser Prado in India, but it was recently spotted. It is exciting that Toyota has a car that wasn’t seen at the Auto Expo 2025 in India. Let’s understand whether the Prado will be launched or not.
Styling
The Land Cruiser Prado model is an SUV positioned below the Land Cruiser. In the front, you can observe vertical slats, which suggests that it is the Prado VX Variant. There are various highlights such as Squared-Off LED Headlights, 360-degree Cameras, which can be spotted throughout the car, rain sensors on the wipers, side steps and 20-inch alloy wheels.
Interior
On the inside, it can be observed that the interior features a 12.3-inch infotainment system, gargantuan “TOYOTA” lettering on the steering wheel, a wireless charging pad and an electrically adjustable driver seat. There are also Rear AC Vents for the second and third rows of seats.
Engine Options
The Land Cruiser Prado is powered by a 2.8-litre diesel engine that produces 204 HP and 500 Nm of torque. Toyota enthusiasts will immediately realise that this is the same engine that powers the Toyota Fortuner.
The Prado is powered by this engine in the European and Japanese Markets. It also gets a 48V mild-hybrid system, which is not spotted here. Middle Eastern and American Markets also get the option of a downsized and more efficient 2.4-litre petrol-hybrid powertrain that sees a global presence in Toyota and Lexus models.
Expected Launch & Outlook
Reports have suggested that the Land Cruiser Prado may launch in late 2025. There is a possibility that this unit is on its way to Bhutan. If the Prado were to launch in India, it would sit below the Land Cruiser LC300, priced at Rs. 2.10 Crore (ex-showroom). The estimated price would be between Rs. 1.7 Crore and Rs. 1.95 Crore. The Prado will be sold as a CBU (Completely Built Unit). The Prado will compete with the Land Rover Defender and Mercedes G Wagon.
