The Toyota Innova Crysta petrol is likely to be launched in the festive season during the later part of this year. The newly-launched MPV is already getting very good demand.
The Supreme Court has put a ban on registration of diesel cars with 2000cc and above engines in the Delhi-NCR region. This has definitely affected the sales of high capacity 4-wheelers including the newly-launched Innova Crysta from Toyota’s lot. Toyota has now fast tracked the development of its new petrol engine for the just-launched MPV to step into the most vibrant automobile market in the country, the Delhi-NCR region.
Toyota has already introduced the 2.0 litre petrol version of the Innova Crysta in countries like Thailand and Indonesia. For the Indian market, the Japanese auto giant is developing a 2.7-litre petrol engine in its R&D facility at Japan. The petrol variant of the Innova Crysta is likely to be launched by Diwali this year in India.
According to officials from Toyota, the company sold 57,000 units of the Innova in 2015. Now, with the launch of new Innova Crysta and its petrol variant, Toyota is seeking to grab the MPV segment market with a projected sales figure of 35,000 units per month. For now, with the Innova, Toyota has a market share of 32% in the MPV segment.
Toyota launched the new Innova Crysta in the first week of May 2016. Within 10 days of launch, Toyota is claiming a booking figure of 15,000 units and deliveries of the booked units have already commenced. With the new MPV, the company is planning to inflate its sales figure by 8-9% in FY 16-17.
The new Innova Crysta is currently available in two engine options. It has a 2.4-litre diesel engine producing 150 BHP of power which is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. On the other hand, for those looking more, there is an option of more powerful 174 BHP 2.8-litre diesel unit paired to a new 6-speed automatic gearbox. The interiors are certainly revised and come with a new dual-tone theme, automatic climate control, Bluetooth connectivity, 7 airbags, ABS, EBD and a lot more.
The pricing of the new Innova Crysta is around Rs. 85,000/- more compared to the previous base model. The base variant is priced at Rs. 13.84 lakhs while the top variant is available at Rs. 20.78 lakhs (all prices ex-showroom, Mumbai). For now, the company has decided to retain the old Innova for the next four more months after which it will be discontinued. Toyota has also come up with an attractive policy of car exchange for the new model for existing customers of the Innova.
