Toyota, the Japanese company which is known for quality is recalling 41000 units of the Etios and Etios Liva in India. Both the cars are affected with a faulty inlet pipe, which connects to the fuel tank. Although this is technically a recall, the company chose to call it a safety campaign. The filler hose is being replaced to prevent fuel leakage on a full tank Etios vehicle. Cars which have been produced till 8th October, 2011 are affected with this problem and owners need to contact their nearest dealer to get their issues addressed. Customers are being informed through social media and Toyota India website about the safety campaign.
“It is a proactive approach by us. This development is not at all dangerous but as per Toyota’s worldwide policy, we are informing customers that they can come to dealers at their convenient time and replace the pipe. It will not take more than 30-45 minutes. This is not recall, it is a safety campaign,” Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director (Marketing), Toyota India, said.
