Toyota Hyryder Spotted, Rebadged Maruti Wagon R [Video]
The carmaker has not covered the test mule of upcoming hatchback, that looks production-ready, using camouflaging material.
The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R-based Toyota Hyryder (moniker trademarked) has been spotted undergoing testing devoid of any camouflage.
Although the model has the same underpinnings of the current generation Wagon R, Toyota has made several changes to it so that it will stand apart from the Maruti car.
Toyota badges aside, the hatchback features a restyled front fascia. It comes with a new bumper, grille and air dam section, while the split headlights are also unique to the model.
The side profile of the Toyota Hyryder spotted on test looks identical to the Wagon R in design, but, it comes with alloy wheels that have been borrowed from the Maruti Ignis.
At the back, Toyota has fitted LED tail lights with dark tinted lenses and a new bumper, while the tail gate has been retained as is.
Changes to the interior might be limited to different coloured seat upholstery. All the features that Maruti offers with the Wagon R should be available on the Hyryder as well.
Maruti sells the Wagon R with 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre petrol engines. But, the Toyota Hyryder might only feature the larger motor. However, both manual and automatic transmission options will be retained.
Since the Toyota Hyryder spotted recently looks ready for production, expect the launch of the hatchback to take place during the second half of this year.
