Maruti Wagon R-Based Toyota Hyryder EV Spied
The electric hatchback has shed all its camouflage and could be launched this year.
A development mule of the Toyota Hyryder electric hatchback has been spied without any camouflage.
While it was earlier thought to be the rebadged and restyled version of the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, it has since been confirmed that the car is an electric vehicle (EV).
Based on the Maruti’s budget hatchback, the EV sports the latter’s silhouette, but has a restyled front fascia, giving it a different look.
While the bonnet has been carried over from the Wagon R, the Toyota electric hatchback does away with the radiator grille, only needing a small air dam for cooling purposes.
It makes use of new irregular pentagon-shaped headlights with a pair of lighting units situated above (for indicators) and below (fog lamps) it.
The side profile of the Toyota Hyryder is identical to the ICE Wagon R, save for the alloy wheels which have been borrowed from the Ignis, while at the rear there is a restyled bumper and LED lamps.
No interior image of the EV is available for now, but, it is likely that apart from the elimination of the gear selector, the cabin of the Hyryder will look identical to that of the Wagon R.
Details about the size of the EV’s battery pack, specifications of the electric motor and claimed range are not available at the moment. But, we can expect it to come with a reasonable driving range and possess fast charging capability.
Since the Toyota Hyryder spied out on public roads looks production-ready, it could be put on sale later this year with a price tag of under Rs. 10 lakhs (ex-showroom).
