
Toyota and Maruti Suzuki have updated the Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Grand Vitara respectively with extra features, new variants and a 6-speed automatic gearbox for the AWD variants
The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara has been updated with features and upgrades. The new updates include the introduction of an additional Strong Hybrid variant, 6 airbags as standard, automatic transmission for the AWD variants and more features. Maruti Suzuki has priced the Grand Vitara from Rs. 11.42 Lakh (ex-showroom).
On the other hand, the Toyota Hyryder has been updated with an introduction of AWD V AT variant, as well as a variety of comfort, safety and transmission upgrades. The Hyryder’s price starts at Rs. 11.34 Lakh (ex-showroom) as a result of these changes.
New Variants
Maruti Suzuki has added a new Delta+ variant with the strong hybrid powertrain. This variant has made the accessibility of the powertrain easier than before as it is priced at Rs. 16.99 Lakh (ex-showroom). Other versions that offer the hybrid powertrain option i.e. Zeta+ and Alpha+ are top-spec trims, starting from Rs. 18.58 Lakh (ex-showroom).
The 5-speed manual transmission has been replaced in favour for a 6-speed automatic transmission on the 1.5-litre petrol AWD variant. The availability of a sunroof is now a Rs. 60,000 option on the Alpha, Zeta+ and Alpha+ trims, as opposed to being standard before.
The Toyota Hyryder’s newly introduced V AT variant that offers AWD phases out the 5-speed manual for a 6-speed Automatic transmission, differentiating the Hyryder from the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
Safety & Convenience Features
The twins also get safety features like 6 airbags as standard, showing the respective brand’s commitment to offering a safe experience. Additionally, the safety suite includes ESP, Hill Hold Assist, ABS with EBD and 3-point seatbelts for all occupants as well as ISOFIX child seat mounts.
There are also a variety of comfort-oriented features available on the Grand Vitara and Hyryder. This includes an 8-way adjustable electric seat for the driver, electronic parking brake for automatic variants, air purifier with PM2.5 display, new LED cabin lamps and rear window sunshades.
The creature comforts also include a 9-inch infotainment system, wireless charging, head-up display, 360-degree camera and ventilated front seats in both SUVs. Additionally, 17-inch alloys are also updated with a revised design for the Grand Vitara. The Toyota Hyryder also offers Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
Engine & Powertrain Options
The 2025 Grand Vitara is powered by two engine options, a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 103 HP and 137 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission equipped with AWD. The other option is a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine with a strong hybrid powertrain mated to an e-CVT transmission.
The Toyota Hyryder’s mild hybrid variant are powered by a Maruti-sourced 1.5-litre 4-cylinder which produces 103 HP and 136.8 Nm of torque. Manual and Automatic transmissions are available in 2 wheel drive form whereas the All-Wheel-Drive version gets only the Automatic transmission. With the assistance of the 12V integrated starter generator, the Hyryder delivers a claimed fuel economy of 21.12 kmpl.
The Strong Hybrid Variant in the Hyryder is powered by Toyota’s 1.5-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine with a hybrid system comprising a 0.76 kWh lithium-ion battery. The combined output is 116 HP, which is mated to an e-CVT transmission and is available in 2-wheel drive only.
Both the vehicles get a CNG fuel type option with the 1.5-litre NA engine as well.
