Toyota has confirmed the launch of Hiace in India for the second half of 2015. The 10-seater MPV will come with a 3.0-litre diesel engine.
Toyota has showcased the Hiace at the ongoing Bus and Special Vehicle Show in Greater Noida. It is the same venue where the Japanese automaker first displayed the luxurious utility vehicle to the Indian audience at the 2014 Auto Expo. After gathering positive response at the 2014 exhibition, Toyota has now confirmed the launch of the Hiace for the early second half of 2015. The full-size premium MPV is appreciated in the international markets for its comfortable and huge cabin space.
The Toyota Hiace is a promising vehicle for fleet operators, hotels and tour guides and has a huge scope in the Indian market as far as volumes is concerned. With a seating capacity for 10 passengers in a configuration of four rows, the Hiace is powered by a 3.0-litre turbo diesel engine that produces 136 PS of maximum power at 3400 RPM and 300 Nm of peak torque at 1200-2400 RPM, mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission.
Suspension setup comprises of double wishbone torsion bar at the front and rear leaf spring suspension. Some key features of the Hiace include power closing sliding door, power steering, power windows, rear defogger, illuminated entry system, audio system with CD, USB and 6 speakers, reverse camera with display, etc. Safety features include dual front airbags and ABS. Compared to the existing competition in this segment, the Hiace is quite well kitted coming under the Toyota QDR (Quality, Durability & Reliability) standard.
