Toyota was doing decent numbers of the Etios and Etios Liva, when the interest and fuel rates were hiked. To make matters worst for Toyota, Honda and Maruti launched the new Jazz and Swift respectively. However, Toyota was ready for all this and will unleash its diesel attack on its competitors with the launch of the Etios diesel and Etios Liva diesel on the 9th of September. Both cars will have the same 1.4-liter, fixed geometry turbo, producing 75 BHP of power. Expect class leading fuel efficiency from the Etios twins. With the Swift diesel commanding four months of waiting and Honda unable to offer diesel vehicles, Toyota has timed this one perfectly.
